Full Skin Checks

Our comprehensive Full Skin Checks are thorough examinations performed by experienced doctors and nurses to detect signs of skin cancer and other skin conditions. Using expert visual assessment and dermoscopy, our clinicians carefully evaluate moles, lesions, and any suspicious areas to ensure accurate diagnosis and recommendations for appropriate treatment. We also utilise an advanced system to record and track suspicious lesions.

Ideal for anyone wanting to be proactive regarding their skin health, especially those with a history of sun exposure, personal or family history of skin cancer, or changing skin spots.

Spot Checks

Worried about a spot that has changed shape, size or colour? Or maybe it’s become raised or itchy? Our Spot Checks are conducted by experienced medical professionals who will examine up to five specific moles, lesions, sun spots, or blemishes for any signs of abnormality or skin cancer. Using advanced dermoscopy and clinical expertise, we provide accurate analysis and recommendations to ensure your skin health and safety.

Ideal for individuals monitoring existing moles or noticing new or changing skin lesions.

Skin Cancer Surgery

Our highly experienced doctors are surgically trained to perform biopsies, serial curettage, excisions, skin flaps, and skin grafts. We are able to provide management of various skin cancers, including basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma. Each surgical treatment is tailored to your specific condition, ensuring effective removal. Expert nurses then provide follow-up wound care and education on minimising scarring during the healing process.

Ideal for patients seeking professional, compassionate care for skin cancer with advanced surgical techniques to ensure adequate clearance, reduce recurrence, and minimise scarring.

Dr Jos also performs skin cancer surgery at Bundaberg Private Day Hospital (BPDH) for patients with private health insurance. An anaesthetist is available to provide sedation during procedures performed at BPDH.

Photodynamic Therapy

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is an advanced, non-invasive treatment used to target pre-cancerous sunspots (actinic keratoses). PDT works by applying a photosensitising agent to the skin, followed by exposure to a specific light source. This activates the treatment, destroying abnormal cells while preserving healthy tissue. PDT offers effective treatment across large areas of sun-damaged skin, with minimal downtime and superior cosmetic outcomes compared to other therapies. It also rejuvenates the skin by improving texture, tone, pigmentation, and pore size.
